About this guide
Tromsø Winter is an independent travel guide for the months between October and April. It is written by Patrick Kühne, a travel publisher based in Germany who also runs a group of sites about single activities in Tromsø, such as husky sledding, whale watching and the northern lights.
Where the facts come from
Temperatures, sunrise times, opening hours, bus lines, dates and rules on this site come from official sources: MET Norway and yr.no, Visit Tromsø, Statens vegvesen, Svipper, Avinor, the museums and churches themselves, and the organisers of the festivals. Each article lists the pages it is based on. We checked them in October 2026.
When two official sources disagree, we say so or leave the detail out. Opening hours and timetables change, so the official page always has the last word.
How the site earns money
Tour cards link to GetYourGuide and, for a few tours that are not available there, to Viator. When you book through these links we receive a commission. Your price stays the same. Prices and ratings in the cards come straight from the booking platform and are not written by us.
We do not sell tours ourselves and we are not a tour operator. Questions about a booking go to the platform or the operator named on the card.
How tours are chosen
We show tours that run in winter, start in or near Tromsø and fit the topic of the page. Details such as duration, meeting point and what is included come from the product pages. Tours for the big activities are compared in more depth on our activity sites, which you find in the footer.
